The home needs to be empty. Cleaning inside cabinets, drawers and closets, and behind furniture, only works once your belongings are out. If you’re still living in the home, book a regular deep clean instead.
Moving on July 1? Book early
Quebec is one of the few places where a large share of leases end on the same day. July 1 has been the province’s traditional moving day since the 1970s, and an estimated 200,000 to 250,000 households move around that date. Movers, trucks and cleaners all get booked up at once.
The tricky part is timing. When you move out on July 1, the next tenant is often moving in the same day, so there’s very little time between the last box leaving and the new keys changing hands. A few tips:
- Request your quote in the spring. Late-June and early-July slots are the first to go.
- Plan the clean for when the unit is empty. If you can move your things out a day or two before your lease ends, the clean can happen in that window.
- Arriving in a new place? Ask your landlord or the previous tenant when the unit will be empty. A move-in clean before your furniture arrives is much easier than cleaning around boxes.

What Quebec tenants should know
In Quebec, a tenant is expected to return the dwelling in the condition it was received, apart from normal wear and tear (Civil Code of Québec, art. 1890). Unlike in other provinces, landlords generally aren’t allowed to ask for a security deposit, so a move-out clean isn’t about “getting your deposit back”. It’s about leaving the unit in good shape, avoiding disputes with your landlord, and handing it over cleanly to the next tenant. This is general information, not legal advice.

- A team of 2 to 3 cleaners arrives fully equipped. Deep cleans, including move cleans, run Thursday to Saturday.
- Fair on the day. If the job takes more or less time than estimated, the price is adjusted to match.
What’s not included
Exterior windows, carpet or fabric shampooing, unfinished rooms, and outdoor areas such as balconies, patios and garages aren’t part of a move clean. We also don’t remove items, furniture or garbage left behind.

Yes. Inside cabinets, drawers and closets can only be cleaned once they’re empty. If you’re still living there, book a regular deep clean.
How far ahead should I book for July 1?
As early as possible. Request your quote in the spring so you can lock in a date close to your move.
Can you clean the oven and fridge?
Yes, as add-ons. Inside the oven, microwave and fridge can be added to your move clean.
How much does move-out cleaning cost?
